Fishing Report - May 23, 2012

The stream hatches:
Skwalas have slowed on most streams but the RDR hatch is yet to come.
Salmonflies are sporadic on the RDR, another week elsewhere.
Early Brown Stone - light - mod
Blue winged olives - mod to heavy (weather dependant)
March browns - light to mod
midges - light
caddis - mod to heavy
PMDs on Stauffer have begun

The annual opening week Dam Man play on the RDR came and went as expected. The river is now low and while stained, has 4 feet vis. Other area streams are in fine shape. The fishing has been quite good. With the weather clearing out on Friday, expect more stonefly activity. The fishing could get quite good.

Expect mountain reaching waters to lose vis and increase flow by the end of the weekend.

Area lakes are settling into good fishing. Mountain lakes are not all ice free as yet. Chironomids, damsel nymphs, some dragon fly nymphs, boatmen.
